Math Placement Assessment

The Math Placement Assessment you are about to start covers topics in college algebra, precalculus functions and trigonometry and determines which UH Hilo math course aligns with your demonstrated knowledge. You will have 1 hour to complete 3 sections, with 10 multiple choice questions per section. Each correct answer is counted as 1 point. Incorrect answers and blanks are scored as zero. Based on your score, you will be placed into Math courses numbered MATH 135T, MATH 125, MATH 135, MATH 140, MATH 140X, or MATH 241. If you want to register for a course higher than MATH 241, please contact the Mathematics faculty member teaching that course. These requests are evaluated on a case by case basis.

Do not take this assessment if you plan to register for MATH 100 Survey of Math or MATH 115 Intro to Statistics & Probability.
