This 1919 English translation by Martha Beckwith has been reprinted in 1918 (not sure why the reprintʻs date pre-dates the original), and in 1997. English and Hawaiian are printed on opposite pages. Pagination of the 1918 publication is different from the 1919 and 1997 publications. Beckwith's English translation was extensively re-edited in 2006. Two abridged versions of the story, for children, have also been published, one in English and the other in Hawaiian and English).
