Welcome

Distance Learning Library Services

Mookini Library provides various services to students, faculty, and staff of the University Hawaiʻi System involved in distance learning. These services include access to online resources (Hawaiʻi CC / UH Hilo), course reserves, and instruction. Check out our How Do I...? page for more information.

Students who are enrolled at another UH campus should contact that campus library for online resources, as some have restricted access. All UH students, regardless of campus affiliation, are welcome in Mookini Library for research assistance, borrowing of physical materials, usage of computers and printers, etc.

Register with the Library

To access online resources from a computer outside the library, you must register with the library. To find out if your library registration is current, follow the steps on the Accessing Online Library Resources page.

Laulima Library Assignment

How to begin the Laulima library skills assignment and requirements for completion: text version / video overview (duration: 3 minutes, 45 seconds).

For Faculty

  • I am happy to have an "Ask the Librarian" space in the Discussions or Forum section of your Laulima site.
  • I can also create handouts (physical or online) to help students with finding and evaluating library and internet resources.
  • All English 100 students complete the Library Skills Assignment. For students in other courses, several distance instructors and I have created a series of assignments to help students with finding and evaluating book, article, and internet resources.

Please contact Distance Learning Librarian Amy Saxton so we can work together to provide library services to you and your students.

UH Hilo Distance Learning has Loanable Technology for faculty to assist in online course development.
