Fines and Fees

Fines

  • Borrowers should be aware that outstanding fines or other financial obligations may hold up registration, graduation, and/or borrowing privileges.
  • Fines are computed on a daily basis, including weekends and holidays.
  • The maximum fine is $10 per item. When the fine reaches the maximum, the item is declared lost.
    • When the item is declared lost, the borrower will be charged the maximum fine, the lost item replacement cost, and a processing fee.
  • You may appeal your fines and fees by downloading the Circulation Appeal Form.
Materials Fines
Books, Compact Discs 25¢ per day per item
DVDs $1 per day per item
Reserve items $1 per hour
Declared lost if overdue for more than 10 hours
Recalled items 50¢ per day per item
ILL (Loans) $1.00 per day in fines for overdue ILL books
ISL/ILL (Loans) $3.00 non pick up of ISL/ILL materials
Wahi Pāpaho Items (Laptops, Cameras, ʻUkuleles, etc.) Fees & Liabilities

Note: Book fines apply to non-General Collection items, including Hawaiian Collection, READ Collection, and New Books Collection.

Refunds: No refunds for the $5 materials charge. Refunds for lost charges paid can be refunded if item(s) returned within the year from due date.

Overdue Notices

Please return library materials by the due date. As a courteous reminder, the library will mail an overdue notice. Failure to receive an overdue notice does not mean fines are cancelled.
