General Education

UH Hilo Requirement Windward CC Equivalency
General Education Students who complete their Associate of Arts degree will have fulfilled all General Education requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy. (Please note that students will need to complete specific Math and Physics courses as part of the requirement for the major.)
Writing intensive (WI) course requirements: The number of writing intensive courses required depends on the number of credits with which a student enters UH Hilo. Students who transfer with 60 credits will need to take 2 WI courses, one of which must be at the 300/400 level Writing intensive (WI) courses taken at Windward CC will count toward the writing intensive requirement at UH Hilo. Students will still need to take at least one WI course at the 300/400 level
Upper Division requirement: The Bachelor of Science degree in Astronomy requires 30 credits numbered 300 and above None
Hawaiian/Asian/Pacific (HAP) requirement: 3 credits Many Windward CC courses will satisfy the Hawaiian/Asian/Pacific (HAP) requirement at UH Hilo. Please consult your academic advisor.
