Honoring Legacy in the Library
UH Hilo has renamed its Hawaiian Collection at Mookini Library in honor of Edith Kanakaʻole. In a featured video, her great-granddaughter Lanihuli Kanahele and Collection Librarian Annemarie Aweau Paikai reflect on what this renaming reveals about legacy, ʻike, and belonging.
Elite Reaccreditation for CoBE
UH Hilo’s College of Business and Economics (CoBE) has been reaccredited by AACSB International. Fewer than 10% of business schools worldwide earn this recognition. The distinction affirms CoBE’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and preparing Hawaiʻi’s next generation of business leaders.
Renee Rivera overcame homelessness, addiction, incarceration and trauma and credits faculty and her academic journey for helping her transform. Today she teaches courses at Hawaiʻi CC and is preparing to pursue a PhD.
2025 Spring Commencement Photo Gallery
UH Hilo celebrated 2025 Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 17, at Edith Kanakaʻole Stadium. Approximately 520 students petitioned to graduate, earning over 680 degrees, certificates, and various post-graduate credentials. Experience the magic of the day through our photo gallery!
