Hollind joined UH Hilo in Fall 2024 after working at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Keaukaha. Hollind takes care of janitorial services for the Student Services Center and says he enjoys the camaraderie among the staff and faculty members. "At the Student Services Center, everyone always acknowledges me and treats me as part of the team and I really appreciate that," he said. "Plus they always invite me to their potlucks, which always has ono food!" Born and raised in Hilo, Hollind believes that no matter a person's job title, everyone is at UH Hilo for a common purpose: to make campus a comfortable, safe, clean, and inspiring place for students, faculty and staff. "I want to thank Russell Strong, William Walters, and my co-workers for making our work environment positive and fun," he said. "I also want to shoutout the entire Grounds crew -- Ricky, Allan, Ryan, Peter, and Rusty -- because on top of their daily duties, they always come in clutch to help out the janitors when we're short-handed. I'm grateful to be at UH Hilo and contribute to doing my part. Mahalo nui for this recognition!"

"Hollind takes great pride in his work, what he considers a normal part of his job others often see as going beyond. He is conscientious and his cleaning schedule is very purposely planned out. For example, not vacuuming in the middle of the day when people are busy and about, and having restrooms cleaned and fresh before most employees arrive to campus in the mornings. He looks at his environment as a visitor would and then prioritizes to ensure that the first impression is a great one. Definitely an asset to UH Hilo. He is truly appreciated" Nominated by Marcy Martinez, Director, Career Services
