UH Hilo’s College of Business and Economics Among Top 10% Worldwide

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s College of Business and Economics (CoBE) has once again secured accreditation from AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—for its business degree programs.

AACSB first accredited CoBE in 2005. The distinction places the college among an exclusive group of business schools worldwide—fewer than 10% achieve this standard.

The May 6, 2025 decision, ratified by AACSB’s Continuous Improvement Review Committee and Board of Directors, reaffirms CoBE’s commitment to academic quality, innovation, and student success.

“This isn’t just a stamp of approval—it’s a signal to students, families, and employers that UH Hilo is serious about delivering a top-tier business education,” said Dr. Todd Inouye, Director of CoBE. “Students who attend an AACSB-accredited institution are choosing one of the best business schools in the world, and we’re proud to be counted among them.” Inouye went on to add, “This reaccreditation reinforces our momentum as we look ahead to expanding access, strengthening local partnerships, and developing the business leaders Hawaiʻi needs for a sustainable future.”

AACSB accreditation is widely regarded as the gold standard in business education. Schools that earn it must demonstrate continuous improvement, high-impact teaching, and relevance in an ever-evolving business landscape. UH Hilo’s CoBE is one of only two AACSB-accredited institutions in the State of Hawaiʻi.

CoBE offers bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration, combining academic rigor with personalized learning, small class sizes, and strong ties to Hawaiʻi’s business community.
