In partnership with the Hawaiʻi Historic Foundation, students from two different history classes, instructed by Professor Kerri Inglis, participated in researching and putting together the Hilo Story Map which launched on December 20, 2021. The launch was presented by a panel featuring Senior Archaeologist Lokelani Brandt of ASM Affiliates, Professor Kerri Inglis, and students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s History Department. This story map includes various components such as: the area’s history, historic and contemporary images, cultural practices and traditions, moʻolelo (stories), maps, and descriptions.
