Welcome to the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Filipino Studies 2024!

This international conference will be held on March 20-22, 2024 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

This 3-day international conference is one of the major scholarly activities designed by the Filipino Studies Program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo in the United States of America.

Aiming at the theory and praxis of its multidisciplinary nature, the Filipino Studies Program has envisioned for this international conference the coming together of the students, teachers, scholars, academics, administrators, policy makers, and other interested parties. This year's international conference invites papers on any of these eight major tracks, but not limited to:

  1. Agricultural, Health, Natural and Applied Sciences
  2. Area Studies, Migration, and Diaspora
  3. Arts and Humanities (Language, Linguistics, Literature)
  4. Business, Accountancy, and Management
  5. Education, Economics, and Social Sciences
  6. Engineering, Architecture, and Built Environment
  7. Law, Public Administration, and Politics & Governance
  8. Tourism and Service Industry

Note that this conference has an option for virtual presentation and participation.

Abstract Guidelines

Your 200-word abstract should be submitted to this google form: 5th ICMFS (2024) Abstract Submission

Abstracts should be no longer than one page in 12-point font, with an optional second page for examples, figures, tables, or references.

On the second page, kindly provide the following information:

  • Title of Paper
  • Author's Name(s) and Affiliations(s)
  • Email Address,
  • Mailing Address and Phone Number
  • 5 keywords

Panel presentations are also welcome. Follow the same guidelines for the abstracts, and add the following information:

  • Panel Title
  • Name of Corresponding Panel Head
  • Email Address of Corresponding Panel Head,
  • Mailing Address and Phone Number
  • 5 keywords

Notification of Acceptance

Subject to the review of abstracts, all notifications of acceptance will be sent by October 31, 2023. Early notifications can be sent in advance upon the receipt of the review from the panel of reviewers.

Registration

Traditional individual participant or presenter is required to register and pay the following registration fees.

  • USD 250 for participants and presenters
  • USD 100 for graduate students

Those who opted for virtual presentation and participation from the Philippines will pay the following rate: - USD 20 or PHP 1000 for Undergraduate and Graduate Students - USD 50 or PHP 2500 for Professionals

Only the names of those paid presenters shall appear in the conference program.
