The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Humanities International Conference (UHHHIC) organizes an international conference with the inaugural theme: “Humanities in Asia and the Pacific: Exploring and Advancing Possibilities”. The conference aims to gather experts, researchers, other professionals and graduate students to share their studies in the field of humanities or other related fields. UHHHIC will be held at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

Objectives

  1. To promote discussion and exchange of ideas among experts the current issues in conducting research in humanities and other related fields.
  2. To encourage researchers to work on multidisciplinary studies between humanities and other disciplines.
  3. To provide a platform for research collaboration among local and international researchers in humanities.

Topics

The conference will cover major fields of inquiry related to humanities. The following are the themes of the conference, but not limited to:

  1. Language, Linguistics and Literature
  2. Philosophy, Law and Politics
  3. Anthropology, Archeology and History
  4. Classics and Religion
  5. Art, Dance, Musicology, Performing Arts and Theater
  6. Digital Humanities
  7. Humanities + Multidisciplinary Studies

Abstract Submission

Please email your abstracts as a Word or PDF attachment to uhhhumanities@gmail.com by January 31, 2019, with UHHHIC Abstract Submission in the subject line.

The abstract should be:

  1. Between 150 and 200 words and a list of five keywords
  2. Based on empirical evidence with a clearly defined theoretical framework or approach.

Include the following information:

  1. Title of paper
  2. Author’s name(s) and affiliation(s)
  3. Email address
  4. Phone number

Notification of Acceptance

All notifications of acceptance will be sent by February 14, 2019.

Early Registration
$ 150.00 (until March 14, 2019)
Regular Registration
$ 200.00

For Hawaiʻi-based presenters and participants, registration fee is $150 only.
