UH Hilo English instructor Patsy Iwasaki tells the story of an immigrant plantation laborer who was lynched in 1889 in the town of Honoka‘a on Hawai‘i Island. The anti-Asian issues surrounding Katsu Goto’s life and death are relevant today even after 130 years.
