History professor Kerri Inglis shared the history of leprosy in Hawaiʻi. Students, as they made lei lāʻī, reflected on parallels about resilience that can be applied to circumstances today.

The mural, located at UH Hilo’s Hawai‘i Innovation Center in downtown Hilo, brightens a large wall facing the street with Hawaiian landscapes, historical figures, and cultural symbols.
Most customers ordered online this year, but a low key plant display was set up in the breezeway at the agriculture college with poinsettia and other plants grown by students at the University Farm Laboratory in Pana‘ewa.
In addition to teaching, Associate Professor Atalağ serves as the chair of the kinesiology and exercise sciences department while conducting his research into physiological markers in athletes.
