UH Hilo nursing program holds pinning ceremony for 2024 graduates

Nursing Class of 2024 included 28 graduates in Hilo cohort and nine in Waiʻanae cohort.
At the annual event, history students presented their work, new members were inducted to Phi Alpha Theta honor society, and awards and recognitions were celebrated.
The annual excursions are spearheaded by UH Mānoa’s Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language in collaboration with UH Hilo’s Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language.
Eighteen students were honored for earning baccalaureate degrees and/or subject certificates. Four received awards for outstanding academic or service achievements.
Having just completed their first year of grad school, each member of the master of arts in teaching cohort are ready to apply for teacher licensure.
The UH Hilo Bonner Program is part of a national network with the mission to help develop student leaders who will have a positive impact on their communities.
Twenty-four students from UH Hilo, Windward Community College, and Xavier University in the Philippines gave oral and poster presentations of their research and projects.
The students discovered that despite challenges, local entrepreneurs feel optimistic about the future, revealing that businesses are on a recovery path following the lows of the pandemic.
