UH Hilo fall production: Play focusing on impacts of 9/11 debuts on the historic date
Filmed over the summer, the UH Hilo production of Banyan is debuting on Sept. 11 because the central character in the play is dealing with the trauma and fallout from the tragic event.
Lactation room available for moms
The lactation room in Campus Center is a comfortable locked room to express milk in private. Although the law requires a lactation room only for employees, student mothers are welcome to utilize the room, if it is available.
Alumna returns to help guide sustainability at UH Hilo
Anya Benavides will focus primarily finishing a report on UH Hilo’s sustainability performance, coordinate students club activities, help establish certificate in sustainability program, and coordinate sustainability/food security with the UH System.
Internship program encourages more kānaka in cultural resource management
Among a cohort of UH peers, two UH Hilo students completed a paid internship this summer collecting scientific and cultural data in Hāmākua on Hawai‘i Island in a region where famous high chief ‘Umialīloa was born and raised.

UH Hilo linguist challenges conventional beliefs about Hawaiian origins
Professor William “Pila” Wilson proposes that Hawai‘i was first settled from the Northern Line Islands. His recently published paper provides evidence that East Polynesia was settled not from Sāmoa as is conventionally believed, but rather from the Central Northern Outliers.
UH Hilo on-campus food services reopening for fall
Déjà Brew at the Library Lanai opens Wednesday/Thursday this week, and Monday through Friday starting next week. The Campus Center Dining Room reopens Monday, August 23, for take-out meals only.
