172 UH Hilo student-athletes earn Academic All-PacWest honors
Women’s Golf led the way with 100 percent participation on the Academic All-PacWest Team list followed by Men’s Tennis and Women’s Soccer.
The Office of Intercollegiate (Vulcans) Athletics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo announced this week 172 student-athletes have been named to the 2025-2026 Pacific West Conference’s Academic All-PacWest Team. The honor recognizes the demands made on student-athletes playing their sport while dealing with a relentless travel schedule and keeping up with rigorous academic challenges.
Eight Vulcans finished the year with a 4.00 grade point average: juniors Brandon Wada (Baseball) and Lauren Otsubo (Softball), along with first-year students Harley Acosta (Softball), Johan Bjorken (Men’s Golf), Jeydon Moises (Baseball), Everett Roach (Women’s Basketball), Johanna Roggenkamp (Women’s Tennis) and Ella Smith (Women’s Soccer).
Women’s Golf led the way with 100 percent participation (eight total) on the Academic All-PacWest Team list followed by Men’s Tennis at 90 percent (nine total) and Women’s Soccer with 88.9 percent (32 total).
Criteria for student-athletes to be named for the Academic All-PacWest Team includes a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher through the 2025-2026 school year, at least two semesters completed, and being eligible to participate in regular season competition including redshirt student-athletes who sit out a year.
Overall, 2,700 student-athletes made the list from sponsored sports across all 13 Pacific West Conference schools, averaging a new record high of 208 per school topping the previous best of 195 (2,728 total) for 2024-2025.
