Two UH Hilo nursing students awarded Zonta scholarships

UH Hilo nursing students Luche Ganot and Shyla Williams received their scholarships at the Zonta Club of Hilo’s monthly membership meeting earlier this month.

At their monthly membership meeting on June 8, Zonta Club of Hilo awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 10 women for 2026, two of whom are nursing students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo School of Nursing.

Women’s Nursing Degree Scholarships totaling $9,000 were given to five students including UH Hilo students Luche Ganot and Shyla Williams, and Hawaiʻi Community College students Leilihaupuaikawai Jung, Gabriella Ramos, and Kaylee Stingel.

Zonta Club of Hilo is a member of Zonta International, whose mission is to build a better world for women and girls. Chartered in 1950, the Hilo club has been active on Hawaiʻi Island for 76 years.
