May Day is Lei Day in Hawaiʻi and the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is celebrating with lei making, exhibit, and more.

Kīpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center presents Lā Mei at the Lānai, a celebration on Mookini Library lānai with music, refreshments, and of course, lei making open to all. Everyone dressed in favorite lole aloha, enjoying an afternoon of making fabric lei, listening to Hawaiian vinyl set by DJ Māwae, and sampling ʻono refreshments from local tea company Waiholokuʻi Garden.

Mookini Library’s Edith Kanakaʻole Hawaiian Collection has a curated display on lei making resources, open for all to explore.

Happy Lei Day!
