Hale Kuamoʻo Moʻohua “Word of the Week”: ʻOkika

Once a week during the school year, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage. This week’s word is ʻokika.

Each week during the school year, Hale Kuamoʻo, the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Hawaiian Language Center, posts a new “Word of the Week” as part of a series of short videos called Moʻohua.

Once a week, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage.

This week’s word is ʻokika, meaning orchid.

Aloha Poʻakolu kākou! Eia mai ka lua o nā haumāna, ʻo Nāleilani Quiacusan, ke hoʻolaha aku nei i ka huaʻōlelo o ka pule, ʻo “ʻokika.”
