Hale Kuamoʻo Moʻohua “Word of the Week”: Kope

Once a week during the school year, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage. This week’s word is kope.

Each week during the school year, Hale Kuamoʻo, the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Hawaiian Language Center, posts a new “Word of the Week” as part of a series of short videos called Moʻohua.

Once a week, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage.

This week’s word is kope, meaning coffee or coffee beans.

Aloha Poʻalima kākou! Eia mai ʻo Nāmaka Ellis-Tingle e hoʻolaha aku nei i ka hua ʻōlelo o kēia pule, ʻo “kope.”
