Video and photos: 2026 International Night

International Night is a long-standing tradition at UH Hilo that spans over five decades and is a favorite event on campus!

By Staff/UH Hilo Stories.

Each year, the International Student Association at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo produces International Night, a colorful and fun show featuring student and community performances from the many different cultures and countries represented at the university. This year’s event was held on Friday, March 27, at the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center.

Performers volunteer their time in preparing and sharing their performances — a testament to the willingness of UH Hilo’s international students to share their cultures with others.

This year’s event opened with a tribute to Chiefess Ruth Keʻelikōlani Keanolani Kanāhoahoa, for whom UH Hilo’s Ka Haka ʻUla o Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language is named, in celebration of her 200th birthday. The presentation was led by Pele Harman, UH Hilo’s director of Native Hawaiian engagement, and her husband Kekoa Harman, associate professor of Hawaiian studies and Hawaiian language.

International Night is sponsored by UH Hilo International Student Services, International Student Association, and UH Hilo Student Association.
