This week’s UH News Image of the Week is from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Fall Ag Fest held Nov. 21, 1025 at the Mookini Library lānai. The photo was taken by Marisa Miyashiro, program specialist at the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management.

The poinsettias showcased and sold at the annual ag festival were cultivated by UH Hilo agriculture students at the Panaʻewa Farm Laboratory.

The event, sponsored by the agriculture college, featured colorful arrangements of both red and white poinsettias, called “Pua Kalikimaka” in Hawaiian meaning “Christmas Flower.”

In addition to poinsettia, for sale from the university’s farm was honey from the apiary and horsehair keychains from the farm’s horses (proceeds go to horse program). The Pacific Aquaculture Pacific Aquaculture and Coastal Resources Center was selling poke seasoning, shell earrings, and ornaments (proceeds go to PACRC student training fund).
