Hale Kuamoʻo Moʻohua “Word of the Week”: Pulakaumaka

Once a week during the school year, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage. This week’s word is pulakaumaka.

Each week during the school year, Hale Kuamoʻo, the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Hawaiian Language Center, posts a new “Word of the Week” as part of a series of short videos called Moʻohua.

Once a week, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage.

This week’s word is pulakaumaka.

Aloha! “Pulakaumaka” is this week’s word. Pulakaumaka could be a person or thing that is thought of constantly through love or hatred. Here is pulakaumaka in a sentence: “As for my younger sister, she has become someone I cherish most ever since she was born.” That is all, mahalo!
