Hale Kuamoʻo Moʻohua “Word of the Week”: Wiwoʻole
Once a week during the school year, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage. This week’s word is wiwoʻole.
Each week during the school year, Hale Kuamoʻo, the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Hawaiian Language Center, posts a new “Word of the Week” as part of a series of short videos called Moʻohua.
Once a week, a single ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) word is introduced along with its meaning and an example sentence of its usage.
This week’s word is wiwoʻole.
“Wiwoʻole” is the word of the week. “Wiwoʻole” means to be fearless, similar to that of a steadfast warrior. Here is “wiwoʻole” in a sentence, “Our kings and queens were very fearless when it came to seeking our nation’s prosperity.” That is all, until next week. Mahalo!
