520 students petitioned for degrees and/or certificates and for various post-graduate credentials. Keynote speaker was UH Hilo Professor of Biology Becky Ostertag; psychology major Gwynne Long was student speaker.
The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo celebrated 2025 Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 17, at Edith Kanakaʻole Stadium. Approximately 520 students petitioned for degrees and/or certificates and for various post-graduate credentials. 681 degrees were earned by those who registered to participate in commencement: 445 bachelors, 59 masters, 47 doctoral, 17 graduate, 113 subject certificates. One hundred and fourteen (22.22%) of the students petitioning to graduate were first-generation.
The students represented the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Business and Economics; College of Natural and Health Sciences; Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy; and Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language.
