Students, faculty, staff, and administrators from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo — from Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language and UH Hilo’s Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu Iki , a Laboratory Public Charter School located in Keaʻau — walked in the 61st Annual Merrie Monarch Festival Royal Parade, April 6, 2024, in Hilo.

A large group from UH Hilo and affiliated Hawaiian immersion school Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu walked in the Merrie Monarch Parade on April 6.

Among the UH Hilo group were students and faculty from ʻAha Pūnana Leo, a child care center that offers Hawaiian language and cultural programs for keiki (children) and their families, co-founded by UH Hilo faculty in 1983 and now with centers throughout the state.
