UH Hilo welcomes new Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs Carla Hoʻa.
Reminder: Nominations for the 2023 Excellence in Teaching Awards are due by Tuesday, Jan. 31. Nominations must be submitted online via this Google form for the following awards:

Staff
Kelli Tomota is the new administrative officer-shared services manager with Auxiliary Services. She will be responsible for campus operation management services, to include, but not limited to, motor pool, storage and inventory management, space planning, logistics, refuse and recycling, eWaste, property management, and state vehicle management.
Valdeane Odachi, academic advisor/counselor at the Student Support Services Program is the author of Navigating Change, a collection of personal reflections and poetry published by Legacy Isle Publishing.
Students
Under the mentorship of Associate Professor of Anthropology Joe Genz, a group of students traveled to Stanford University for workshop on seafaring, where they presented their own research. The students are investigating the use of oral histories of Marshallese and Yapese voyaging to support the development of community engagement for sustainable sea transport and climate change adaptation.
