- The trio was featured Dec. 9 in CNN’s “As scientists in Hawaii carefully monitor the risks of Mauna Loa’s eruption, some ‘lava junkies’ can’t stay away.”
- Professors Lundblad and Mills have published two new books about Hawai‘i. Lundblad worked with lead author Rick Hazlett (retired Pomona College geology professor and UH Hilo geology department affiliate) and Gansecki on the second edition of Roadside Geology of Hawai‘i (Mountain Press) as part of its Roadside Geology series. Mills’s newest book is Connecting the Kingdom-Sailing Vessels in the Early Hawaiian Monarchy, 1790-1840 (University of Hawai‘i Press). Both books will be available at Basically Books in Hilo and other online sources.
