UH Hilo grad student cohort celebrates eligibility for teacher licensure
Having completed their first year in the two-year graduate program, the students are now eligible for teacher licensure through the Hawai’i Teacher Standards Board.

The School of Education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo held a closing celebration earlier this month for graduate students completing their first year of the master of arts in teaching (MAT) program. All graduate students in the cohort are now eligible for teacher licensure through the Hawai’i Teacher Standards Board in their respective fields, and can begin interviewing for classroom positions open this fall.
During the second year of the MAT program, graduate students will complete research projects with students in their own classrooms.
The fifteen graduate students who will soon become first-year teachers are:
