Photos: 2022 Pinning Ceremony for UH Hilo nursing graduates
The Annual Pinning Ceremony at UH Hilo is a family-oriented event where loved ones join the graduate on stage to present them with their nursing pin, sash, and lei.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo School of Nursing held a “pinning” ceremony on May 13, 2022, for graduates earning a bachelor of science in nursing. The Nursing Class of 2022 included UH Hilo students and a cohort of students from Waiʻanae, Oʻahu.
At the annual Pinning Ceremony, which is a traditional ceremony of induction into the profession of nursing, a pin is presented to the graduate by their significant other, family member or friend, and the director of the program. A family-oriented event, the Pinning Ceremony also celebrates students’ achievements and awards.
The ceremony this year was limited by invitation only and not open to the public.
