Administration

Stay informed of upcoming UH Board of Regents meetings. Subscribe to receive meeting agendas. Subscribers will receive email notifications when agendas are posted, which is typically six days prior to the meeting date.

The nominations deadline for the 2021 UH Hilo Faculty and Staff Awards is Thursday, March 25, 4 pm. Use this nomination form for the following awards:

The Long Range Budget and Planning Committee meeting notes are available. Log in required.

Faculty and staff are reminded to complete the brief Resources to Grow Extramural Funding at UH Hilo survey by Friday, March 26. The UH Hilo Research Council is planning a workshop for April 14 to discuss resources and support available to faculty for pursuing extramural funding opportunities and everyone’s input is appreciated.

UH Hilo alum Colin Hourihan is senior staff at organization awarded 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.

The UH President’s Commission on the Status of Women offers a free webinar on “Financial Literacy and Strategies” on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 3:30-5:00 p.m, to inform, educate, and empower the UH community about important financial topics. Pre-registration is required. The three guest panelists include Marjorie Bennet, Tee Nahinu, and Rosita Chang.

Carolyn Ma
Carolyn Ma

Carolyn Ma, dean of the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy, is elected a distinguished practitioner and fellow by the National Academies of Practice (NAP). Class of 2021 fellows were welcomed into NAP in a virtual awards and induction ceremony on March 20, 2021. Founded in 1981, NAP is an interprofessional, nonprofit organization with membership representing a range of health care professions willing to serve as distinguished advisors to health care policy makers in the U.S. Congress and elsewhere.

Scholarly Works

Seri Luangphinith, professor of English, has edited and helped translate The Epic Battle for Korean Independence by Kim Young Wo. The work will be released by Ka Noio ‘A‘e Ale Press in summer 2021. This book was written in 1919 when Kim served as the chief financial officer of the Korean National Association in Honolulu under Syngman Rhee.
