A message from University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs.
This message was emailed to all members of the UH Hilo campus community on Feb. 23, 2021.
The Campus Security office has received several reports recently for people not wearing masks. Many of these reports have come through the Silent Witness Portal of the Campus Security webpage. Please be advised that this type of report results in an email to the Campus Security Director and is not likely to be read in real-time. When you wish to report current policy violations and want to have them addressed at the time of occurrence, please call the campus security office directly at 932-7013 or 974-7911 so that an officer can be dispatched to immediately address the violation.
As a reminder, face coverings are required in public settings where physical distancing measures are difficult to maintain, including outdoor spaces in densely populated areas (lanai, walkway, lobbies, etc.). For details, visit the UH Hilo COVID-19 Guidelines.
All positive cases and suspected cases of individuals who are on campus should be reported to Campus Security dispatch at (808) 974-7911 (on campus extension 7911). Campus Security is a 24/7 operation, and will notify the Campus COVID Coordinator for appropriate follow up. The COVID Coordinator will instruct the individual on next steps and coordinate campus resources to assist the individual. Any information may be shared with the State Department of Health as appropriate. The information will be kept confidential.
Please remember to use the daily health check-in app LumiSight UH before coming to campus, stay home when you are sick, practice safe physical distancing while on campus, and wash your hands often.
If you start to experience symptoms and/or come into close contact with someone who tested positive, isolate yourself as soon as possible and contact your healthcare provider.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the UH Hilo COVID-19 Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also refer to the UH Hilo COVID-19 webpage and view the UH Hilo COVID-19 Guidelines for additional information and resources.
