First 100% “Local First” meals of the semester are on the menu today at UH Hilo
On the first Wednesday of each month during the semester, the fare for UH Hilo’s daily menu at the Campus Center Dining Room is 100 percent locally grown food.
The first “Local First” menu of the fall 2017 semester is available today at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Campus Center Dining Room. Each day, the majority of the food served on the campus of UH Hilo is from local sources, increasing annually since 2012. Once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month, the daily menu is 100 percent locally grown food and called “Local First.”

Grill Breakfast
Sweet bread breakfast sandwich omelet, sweet bread filled with portuguese sausage, sweet Maui onions, and Hāmākua mushrooms rolled in an egg batter and flat top griddled, $6.95
Grill Lunch
Kalua burger, local, grass-fed all beef burger, topped with slow roasted kalua pig, grilled pineapple relish, on a taro bun and hand cut fries, $8.25.
Hot Line Entrée One
Crispy garlic shrimp, large Kaua’i shrimp flashed fried to crispy and tossed in butter and fresh chopped garlic, $12.95.
Hot Line Entrée Two
Sake soy steak, aged rib-eye steak, marinated in a sweet shoyu sake sauce, grilled, and dipped again in the sweet sake shoyu, $11.95.
Hot Line Combo
Surf-n-Turf: Crispy garlic shrimp and sake soy steak, $18.95.
Vegan Entrée
Tempura tofu noodle bowl, tofu, flash fried in a tempura batter, drizzled with a char siu glaze, served on soba stir-fried with fresh, local veggies, $8.45.
Salad Special
Grilled Kaua’i shrimp chopped salad: grilled Kaua’i shrimp on mixed greens served with tomatoes, cucumbers, Hāmākua mushrooms, dressed with a house made basil vinaigrette and croutons, $10.95.
Deli Special
Grilled kiawe steak melt on a croissant, house smoked rib-eye steak, grilled to medium rare, lightly seasoned, topped with sauteed green bell peppers and onions, topped with goat cheese on a croissant, $8.50.
