UH Hilo community welcomes six food vendors to campus this semester with the second annual Taste of UH Hilo event.
The second annual Taste of UH Hilo event was held earlier this month at the Mookini Library lānai. The event was open to the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo community, and showcased food concepts from three new food vendors, and three returning food vendors, all operating food concessions on campus this semester. Everyone enjoyed tasting samples of the various food offerings available at campus food concessions this year. Watch the video above!
Six food vendors on UH Hilo campus for Fall 2016
Anuenue’s Kitchen, one of two new food truck vendors will serve a Hawaiian barbeque menu on Tuesdays and Thursday, and Hawaiian plates and bowls every Wednesday. The food truck will be located at the Campus Center Plaza on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The second new food truck, Thai Smile, will offer a rotating menu of its popular noodle, stir fry, curry and fried rice dishes with choice of chicken, tofu or shrimp. Thai Smile’s food truck will be located at the Campus Center Covered Plaza and serve its popular authentic Thai cuisine to the UH Hilo campus community on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sweet Cane Café will operate out of the Student Life Center Juice Bar, providing students and the campus community with a farm-to-table experience. Menu items include Sweet Cane Café’s popular smoothies, acai and pitaya bowls, healthy sandwiches, salads and bento boxes. Initial hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to accommodate students during peak workout hours.
Island Naturals Market and Deli, located at the Library Lanai will be returning to UH Hilo for a limited engagement during the months of August, September and October. In addition to the award-winning deli and bakery items, a self-service microwave station will be available at the Island Naturals concession to heat up new hot menu items including chicken pancit, tofu pancit, pad thai bento, turkey calzone, veggie calzone, and stromboli. Hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sky Garden Express, at the Campus Center Plaza (behind the Lava Landing) returns to UH Hilo, bringing the best of ʻImiloa’s Sky Garden Restaurant closer to campus. Sky Garden Express remains committed to serving affordable grab-and-go menu items to students and the campus community, and will continue to offer a variety of dim sum, salads, mini and regular bentos, and poke bowls, breakfast fried rice, and prime rib loco conveniently packaged for quick pick up between classes. Initial hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
