Hilo Vulcan Jordan Kurokawa selected PacWest co-Pitcher of the Week
This is his second honor of the season and fifth of his career.
University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Vulcan Jordan Kurokawa (Honolulu, Hawai‘i/Maryknoll) was selected PacWest Co-Pitcher of the Week following a nine-inning 3-0 shutout of Hawai‘i Pacific University.
The senior right hander allowed just one hit and a walk while striking out nine in the complete game win. He faced the minimum 27 batters, as the walk was thrown out stealing and the single was thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double. After allowing that single in the middle of the fifth, he retired the final 13 batters in order.
Kurokawa is tied for fifth in the PacWest with 67 strikeouts.
This is his second honor of the season and fifth of his career. He opened the season with a two-hit shutout of UH while striking out seven and walking two.
He was also honored as the National College Writers Association’s Regional Pitcher of the Week that same week.
