Libby Bailey named UH Hilo Title IX coordinator

Ms. Bailey will be responsible for overseeing UH Hilo’s response to Title IX issues, including sexual assault, gender discrimination, domestic and dating violence, and stalking.

Chancellor Don Straney announced yesterday that Elizabeth “Libby” Bailey has been hired as the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo’s Title IX coordinator.

Bailey comes to UH Hilo from the University of Phoenix, where she served for eight years as a student conduct administrator and deputy Title IX coordinator. In her role as deputy coordinator, she helped develop the university’s Title IX program, policies, and procedures, and ensured compliance with the federal civil rights law.

Bailey earned a master’s degree in legal studies from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, a master’s degree in education with a focus on adult education and training from University of Phoenix, and a bachelor’s degree in human relations from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

In the role of Title IX coordinator, Bailey will be responsible for overseeing UH Hilo’s response to Title IX issues, including sexual assault, gender discrimination, domestic and dating violence, and stalking. In  his email announcement, the chancellor says she will work with UH Hilo students, faculty and staff to ensure compliance with Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
