Band member playing horn.The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Jazz Orchestra presented Zappa3, the 3rd Annual Frank Zappa Tribute Concert, on Dec. 9 and 10 at the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center.

The concert featured songs from throughout Zappa’s recording career with an emphasis on his bestselling albums from the 1970s such as Joe’s Garage, Apostrophe’ and One Size Fits All.

Guest performers were Cheryl “Quack” Moore, former Saturday Night Live musical director, on piano; Justin Chittams, a Jazz Orchestra alumni and current member of Medicine for the People; Randy Skaggs, St. Joseph School’s band director; and Jackie Pualani Johnson, UH Hilo drama professor.
