UH Hilo goalie earns Defender of the Week honors for PacWest Conference

Cassidy Dixon earned his first two shutouts of the year as UH Hilo picked up its first PacWest wins last week.

Some beautiful goalkeeping work in two wins for the University of Hawaʻi at Hilo men’s soccer team has earned hometown Vulcan Cassidy Dixon recognition as the Defender of the Week for the PacWest Conference. The award covers games played between Oct. 12-18.

Dixon, a junior at UH Hilo who hails from Pahoa on Hawaiʻi Island, earned his first two shutouts of the year as UH Hilo picked up its first PacWest wins last week.

In his third start of the season, Dixon made a career-high 10 saves against Brigham Young University-Hawaiʻi, holding the Seasiders scoreless.

Two days later, he made two saves in a 3-0 triumph over Dominican University.
