Heather Bartlett and Zachary Nanbu are scholarship recipients.
Two University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo students have received the Gertrude E. McVickar Study Abroad Scholarship of $1,000 each.
Heather Bartlett, a senior majoring in economics, is studying at the University of Stirling, Scotland, for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Zachary Nanbu, a senior majoring in linguistics, will study at Doshisha University, Japan, for the spring 2016 semester.
The award is an endowed scholarship that honors the memory of Gertrude E. McVickar by perpetuating her belief that an opportunity to be in an unfamiliar country and culture would lead to a more tolerant and peaceful world.
The scholarship is available to full-time and classified UH Hilo students who have completed 24 completed college credits and have a cumulative 3.5 grade point average. The students study abroad for at least one semester and must return to UH Hilo after completing the study abroad program.
