Pinning ceremony for UH Hilo nursing graduates

A family-oriented event, the pinning is a traditional ceremony of induction into the profession of nursing.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo School of Nursing held “pinning” ceremonies on May 15 for graduates earning a bachelor of science in nursing. The class of 2015 included UH Hilo students and a cohort of students from Waiʻanae.

“The pinning is a traditional ceremony of induction into the profession of nursing and a pin is presented to the graduate by their significant other and the director of the program,” says Kay Daub, professor and director of nursing. “The pinning also celebrates student achievements and awards.”
