The campus photovoltaic array system is distributed among several buildings and will save about $300,000 per year in electricity costs.
The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo announced today that the photovoltaic or PV array at the new Student Services Center building is now operational. The announcement coincides with world-wide Earth Day.
This brings the PV array system at UH Hilo to a capacity of about 500 KW and is distributed among the Student Services Center, the new College of Business and Economics facility (formerly the old Student Services Building), the Mookini Library, and the Performing Arts Center.
At the current kwh rate, the array is anticipated to save the university approximately $300,000 per year in electricity costs.
