Website launched to track progress toward sustainability
A collaboration of state and county government and the UH System, called the Aloha+ Challenge, launches website to track joint sustainability initiative.

Governor David Ige, the four county mayors, CEO of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and University of Hawaiʻi President David Lassner have launched the Aloha+ Challenge Dashboard, a new online tool designed to track state and county progress towards achieving sustainability targets.

The dashboard initially features indicators for two of the six targets — clean energy and solid waste reduction. Indicators for all six shared targets will be available by 2017.
“The University of Hawaiʻi continues to partner with the state to be an incubator for sustainability innovation, to help catalyze and contribute to Hawaiʻi’s developing green economy, and to develop graduates who are engaged global citizens and problem solvers,” says Lassner.
In Feb., UH adopted an executive policy on sustainability that sets a number of significant goals, including carbon neutrality by 2050. UH is also working to develop a funding approach that can accelerate implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to reduce the university’s energy consumption and costs.
