UH Hilo student receives scholarship from Hawai‘i Association of Broadcasters

Candidates interested in the scholarship were required to have a career goal to work in the broadcast industry in Hawaiʻi.

Kamakalia Waipa, a 2014 Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi graduate attending the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, is among 26 recipients of scholarships awarded by the Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters, Inc.

The HAB has awarded a total of $48,500 in academic scholarships to high school seniors and college students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and a career goal to work in the broadcast industry in Hawaiʻi.

…candidates interested in the HAB scholarship were required to complete an application form, including a letter of recommendation, and were also scheduled for a personal interview with the scholarship committee.

The Hawaii Association of Broadcasters, Inc. is made up of radio and television stations and others whose common goal is to support and benefit the local broadcast industry.
