About Hawaiʻi Island Food Bank

The Food Basket, Inc; Hawaiʻi Island’s Food Bank is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste in Hawaiʻi County. Food pantries in both Hilo and Kona distribute food and meals to Hawaiʻi’s hungry

Top Five Food Pyramid: 1. Canned meats or tuna; 2. Canned meals; 3. Canned soups; 4. Canned vegetables; 5. Canned fruits.

When: All year long. Our goal is to provide a box to the food basket a month


Hunger in Hawaii - Food Drive

Where: Donations will be taken in Campus Center 312 all year long. In April (Canned Food Drive Month) Various main offices throughout campus.

  • During this time we provide baskets in offices throughout the campus to collect non-perishable foods to donate to the Hawaiʻi Island Food Basket.
  • Please help those who are less fortunate in our community by donating non-perishables and canned goods during this time.

When: April 6-22, 2016


April 6, 2016 Join CCS and The Hawaii Island Food Bank in Campus Center Plaza from 11am-1pm to learn more about how hunger effects both the Big Island community and the UH Hilo Community.
