Liliuokalani Gardens Pond Mucking Day
In collaboration with the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens Association and the UH Hilo Sociology Club, CCS has committed to helping muck out the ponds at Liliuokalani Gardens in an effort to restore the natural ecosystems. All of the muck is being donated to the UH Hilo Agricultural Farm to help make nutrient rich soil. The project will take multiple visits, so if you are interested in helping please contact us to find out the next available service date.
- Muck Removed to date: 1280 Gallons
- October 2016: 400 gallons
- November 2016: 380 gallons
- January 2017: 500 gallons
Bay Front Beach Clean Up
Spend a day cleaning up a stretch of beach where the currents and visitors bring rubbish that clutters an amazing area of the island.
- Transportation is provided to and from UH Hilo campus and the beach.
- Snacks are provided.
- Gloves and tools are available as well.
This year UH Hilo Housing students hosted two beach clean ups to help collect debris that washed up during recent tropical storms.
Total debris collected: 30 lbs.
