UHHSA Funding Committee
Aloha Vulcans! The UHHSA RISO Funding application for the 2024-2025 school year officially closed on March 24th, 2025. The committee, made up of students, will not able to accept any more applications beyond this deadline. We appreciate your understanding on this matter. Mahalo!
The purpose of this committee is to provide opportunities to UH Hilo Registered Independent Student Organizations (RISOs) to request funding in support of the following categories:
- Events or Initiatives that serve the needs of UH Hilo students generally, or
- Fundraising activities to develop their own programming at UH Hilo, provided the request does not include the actual items being sold. (i.e. buying baked goods from Krispy Kreme to be re-sold, or similar)
The mandatory student fees are collected and expended in accordance with the UH Hilo Student Association’s (UHHSA's) mission and philosophy. Providing funding for RISOs is optional and UHHSA is not is required to make funding available to RISOs.
All funding requests are capped at $1000.00 per RISO per school year. The funding committee will not consider any additional funding beyond this limit. There is no limit to the number of request that you can make to the Committee; each request will be reviewed on it's own merit and considered for funding. RISOs will not be awarded more than $1,000 in total per school year.
The Funding Committee will not consider requests for prizes/gifts, stipends, reimbursements; this includes after-the-fact purchases paid out-of-pocket, tickets/vouchers, gift certificates/gift cards, items used for the operations of the organization (i.e. fees incurred by group, school supplies, membership dues), travel for RISO or individuals within the RISO, operational supplies & equipment, items or events that are directly tied to a students grade, logo branded or other non-food items for resale.
All applications submitted by the deadline will be evaluated before awards are determined to ensure the most appropriate use of student fees. The Committee reserves the choice to award an amount less than requested.
