About the Vulcan V.I.B.E.

Entering Class of 2019

The Vulcan V.I.B.E. (Vulcans Involved By Engagement) Program, was created by the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo’s Office of Institutional Marketing in partnership with the UH Hilo Student Association (UHHSA) to tell the stories of our UH Hilo ‘Ohana through the eyes of our students, staff, faculty and alumni, and to highlight the unique impact, values, and experiences our colleges and departments have to offer. Stories are featured every Tuesday on the Vulcan V.I.B.E. website blog and UH Hilo’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) in either a written or video format. We are looking for powerful, compelling and heartfelt voices – those whose stories are often unheard. Submissions are accepted year-round, however the program runs weekly on Tuesdays during the academic year.

Stories should also ideally align with at least one of UH Hilo’s Core and/or Aspirational Values identified by UH Hilo’s Marketing and Social Media Advisory Group:

UH Hilo Values:

  • Diversity
  • Student-focused
  • Value/Affordability
  • Community
  • Excellence
  • Global Vision
  • Innovation
  • Collaboration

Stories can be submitted online or by contacting the UH Hilo Office of Institutional Marketing at (808) 932-7339 or nkushi@hawaii.edu.
