UH Hilo Happenings (October 7-13, 2018)

UH Hilo Happenings (October 7-13, 2018)

Aloha UH Hilo!

It’s the 8th week and mid-term season is here, so we want to both encourage you and let you know of resources on campus that can help you. Need tutoring? Kilohana offers tutoring in the following subjects: Math, Writing, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Marine Science. Be sure to visit hilo.hawaii.edu/kilohana for tutor schedules and locations. We also have great places to study, like the library, the Student Life Center, the spaces around Kipuka, and of course, the weekly Haumana Hou Lounges on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Study tables are located all over campus, so you have great options to find your ideal study space.

We also want to reiterate tips to help you manage stress during this time of the semester: Eat healthy foods regularly; take study breaks to spend time doing things you enjoy; stay well hydrated; study with fellow students; get enough rest; exercise moderately; and take a few conscious breaths. You can also access Press Pause to help you with anxiety, stress, sadness, and anger. Health psychologist Kelly McGonigal’s TEDTalk, ‘How To Make Stress Your Friend’ may also be helpful for you.

UH Hilo Happenings is a weekly digest or collection of events and announcements, sent out by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs every Sunday, at 6:00 am, so you’re aware of what’s coming up this week. We include important dates and deadlines, opportunities to get involved, and announcements that may be helpful to you as a student.
