Readers noted that the lack of a detailed assignment sheet made it difficult to gauge exactly what students were expected to do. Papers also seemed to be using a wide variety of sources—“References,” “Bibliography” and ‘Work Cited” indicate APA, MLA, and possibly Chicago/Turabian. Most papers also exhibited extreme difficulty in incorporating in-text (in-body) citations. Overall, students appear to be struggling with proper citation formatting.
