Data (measurement of the competency)

22 final papers were scored by 2 readers.

The 22 ENG 419/WS 494 The New West samples were end-of-term argumentative research papers on a topic of the students’ own choice.
The assessment scores show that the majority of the papers scored at 3 for organization, content, and language/grammar. This indicates that English majors have strong language skills. Overall, the lowest scores were given for line of reasoning. These scores follow assessment patterns previously seen among English majors (e.g. ENG 489 assessment).

Evaluator Tabular Data

Action Taken in Response to the Data (What will you do in response to the Findings?)

The results will be reviewed with ENG and WS faculty in Fall 2018.
